How to see Marriage Timing in Astrology?
Marriage is a significant life event, and astrology offers various methods to determine its timing. The answers provide various methods for determining marriage timing in Vedic astrology, focusing on planetary positions, house lords, and dasha periods. While some astrologers offer specific techniques, others caution against relying too heavily on astrological predictions for life events. Here's a detailed guide based on the principles mentioned:
Basic Understanding
- The 7th house governs marriage, partnerships, and relationships. The lord of the sign occupied by the 7th lord or that of the sign occupied by the 7th lord in Navamsa are capable of giving marriage in their Dasas. Venus, the karaka or natural significator of the 7th house, and the Moon can also give marriage in their periods.
- The Navamsa chart (D-9) is essential for analyzing marriage-related matters. Consult for Marriage report
Rule 1: Seventh House Analysis
Identify the Ruler of the 7th House:
Check which planet governs your 7th house in the birth chart (D-1).Placement of the 7th Lord:
- Supportive Placements:
If the 7th lord is placed in trine houses (1, 5, 9) or quadrants (1, 4, 7, 10), it is favorable for marriage and indicates a good life partner and a harmonious married life. - Challenging Placements:
If the 7th lord is in houses like the 6th, 8th, or 12th, it may indicate delays, challenges, or specific karmic lessons related to marriage.
- Supportive Placements:
Navamsa Chart (D-9):
- Identify the ruler of the 7th house in the Navamsa chart and check which planet occupies it.
- Return to the birth chart and see if the 7th lord is influenced by other planets through exchange, conjunction, or mutual aspects.

Dasha System:
Marriage is likely during the Mahadasha or Antardasha of a planet associated with the 7th house or 7th lord.
Rule 2: Vvoaha Saham Method
Calculate Vvoaha Saham:
- Add the longitude of the Ascendant lord and the 7th lord.
- If the sum exceeds 360°, subtract 360°. The resultant degree is the Vvoaha Saham or marriage point.
Marriage Timing:
- Marriage occurs when Jupiter (for females) or Venus (for males) transits over the Vvoaha Saham degree.
Example:- Mercury is the Lord of Ascendat in a Jama Kundali with Virgo Ascendant. The Lord of seventh house is Jupiter. If the Lord of Ascendant’s Bhogansh is 3 hours, 3 degrees and 19 minutes. The Lord of seventh house’s Bhogansh is 4 hours, 19 degrees and 16 minutes. If we combine both of these, it equals 7 hours, 22 degrees and 35 minutes. This means that Vivah Saham is being formed in third house or Scorpio sign. Vivah Saham will also be analyzed in Navansh Kundali.
In the above example, Vivah Saham is in Scorpio sign. If Aquarius is the Ascendant of Kundali’s Navansh and if we take Vivah Saham to Navansh, it will become Capricorn Navansh. We will now analyse Vivah Saham in Janma and Navansh Kundali. We will see the Lords of houses in which Vivah Saham is formed in both Kundalis. We will also see if it is auspicious or inauspicious.
Rule 3: Chara Dasha and Darakaraka
Determine Darakaraka:
- The planet with the lowest degree in your chart is the Darakaraka, the significator of the spouse.
Chara Dasha Analysis:
- Check the house where the Darakaraka falls in the running Dasha Rashi.
- Marriage is likely if the Darakaraka falls in the 5th, 7th, 11th house, or the zodiac itself during the Chara Dasha.
Rule 4: Ashtakavarga Analysis
Calculate Marriage Timing:
- Sum the Ashtakavarga points from the 1st to the 7th house.
- Divide the total by 27 (corresponding to the 27 Nakshatras).
- The resultant number indicates the Nakshatra.
Transit for Marriage:
- Marriage is likely when Jupiter (for females) or Venus (for males) transits over the indicated Nakshatra. Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu creates big events in their transits If Saturn Jupiter, Rahu or Ketu are sitting/aspecting on 1H or 7H through transits.
Special Tip: Saturn and Jupiter Double Transit
Activation of 7th House:
- Significant life events, including marriage, require the blessings of Saturn and Jupiter.
- A double transit occurs when Saturn and Jupiter simultaneously activate the 7th house through placement or aspect. Basic rule, follow the double transit method during the transit, see the dharma karmadhi pathi postions, if both are posited or aspects the seventh house or lord, then you can predict a strong marriage time for the subject.
Impact of 7th Lord:
- Union or aspect of Saturn and Jupiter with the 7th lord can also initiate marriage-related events.
Conclusion
By analyzing the 7th house, Navamsa chart, Dasha periods, planetary transits, and special yogas, astrologers can provide a detailed prediction for the timing of marriage. Methods like the Vvoaha Saham, Chara Dasha, and Ashtakavarga offer additional precision. Saturn and Jupiter’s roles as karmic planets ensure that their blessings are essential for such a significant life event.
